Course overview
Military GIS and Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Training is a practical professional development course designed to equip defence, security, intelligence and geospatial professionals with the skills required to use geographic information, satellite imagery, terrain data and spatial analytics for operational and strategic decision-making. GEOINT combines geospatial information, imagery and analytical interpretation to provide an understanding of locations, physical environments, activities and spatial relationships.
The programme also introduces contemporary GEOINT developments including 3D geospatial visualization, remote sensing, mobile geospatial data, geospatial databases, web-based mapping, automation, machine learning and GeoAI. Modern GEOINT organisations increasingly use automation and AI to process large volumes of geospatial information and help analysts identify relevant patterns more efficiently.
Course objectives
- Apply GIS and GEOINT principles to manage, analyse and interpret geospatial information for defence, security, intelligence and strategic decision-making.
- Analyse satellite imagery, terrain data and other geospatial datasets to identify geographic patterns, environmental characteristics, infrastructure and changes over time.
- Conduct advanced spatial and terrain analysis including proximity, overlay, network, elevation, accessibility and multi-criteria analysis to support authorised security and planning applications.
- Develop professional GEOINT products including thematic maps, terrain visualisations, 3D scenes, spatial-analysis outputs, dashboards and intelligence-oriented geospatial reports.
- Apply emerging GeoAI, machine learning and geospatial automation techniques to improve the processing, analysis and interpretation of large geospatial datasets while considering data quality, accuracy, privacy and responsible use.
