Course overview
The Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Tracking Using Microsoft Project Training Workshop equips project managers, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) professionals, programme coordinators and project implementation teams with practical skills to plan, track, monitor and evaluate project performance using Microsoft Project and complementary digital tools.
Participants learn to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), establish project baselines, allocate resources, monitor milestones, track actual progress, analyse schedule and cost variances, and generate project performance reports. The workshop integrates results-based management, performance indicators, risk monitoring and evaluation frameworks with practical Microsoft Project workflows.
An additional Artificial Intelligence (AI) component introduces AI-assisted project planning, progress analysis, delay detection, risk identification, performance forecasting and report generation. Participants learn to combine Microsoft Project with AI assistants, Excel and Power BI to improve project visibility, identify emerging implementation challenges and support evidence-based management decisions.
Course objectives
- Develop project schedules, work breakdown structures, milestones and implementation plans using Microsoft Project.
- Generate professional project monitoring reports, dashboards and stakeholder updates using Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI and AI-assisted tools.
- Apply AI and data analytics to identify project delays, analyse performance variances, assess risks and support corrective action planning.
- Integrate monitoring and evaluation frameworks, indicators and results-based management into project tracking workflows.
- Establish baselines and track project progress against approved schedules, deliverables, resources and performance targets.
